Elwood “Woody” Sinson of West Chester

Elwood “Woody” Sinson, 89, of West Chester, died Monday, April 23, at his residence. He was the husband of Johanna Novack Sinson, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in the British Guianas, he was the son of the late Henri Sinson and the late Marie Viret Sinson.

Woody was a chemical engineer at Astra Zeneca, retiring in 2005. He had also worked for the DuPont Co. and ICI.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Kennett Square. He enjoyed watching golf, was an avid gardener, going camping, sailing, fishing, barbecuing at the Ponderosa, and being with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Stephen E. Sinson (Crystal Stanley) of Cochranville, David Sinson of Seattle, Wa., Philip Sinson of West Chester, and Timothy Sinson of Flagstaff, Ariz; one daughter, Nannette O’Donnell of West Chester,; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Anne S. Williams, one grandson, Mathew Sinson and several brothers and sisters.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, and again from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square. His funeral mass will follow at 11 at St. Patrick Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square.Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Church, Route 82, Kennett Square.
