Raymond F. “Cookie” McConnell Jr., 66, of Kaolin, died Thursday, Feb. 15, at his home.
Born in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Raymond F and Margaret Lafferty McConnell.
He was retired after many years of working in the mushroom industry and at Lukens Steel Co.
He graduated from Kennett High School and Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. He enjoyed playing and watching all sports, especially wrestling and baseball. In 2011 he was inducted into the Kennett Old Timers Baseball Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his two sons, Matthew and his wife Francesca of Philadelphia, and Brian of Wilmington. He is also survived by his siblings, brothers, Lewis of New Castle, Del. and William and his wife, Cheryl of West Grove, and his sisters, Rosemary Ellis and her husband, Norman of West Grove, and Mary of Kennett Square.
You may visit with his family and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Kuzo and Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA. His service and burial will be private.
