Police Log Jan. 3: Indecent exposure, theft

• State police from the Media barracks are investigating the theft of a 2007 Yamaha ATV and a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle. The vehicles were reportedly stolen sometime between Dec. 7 and Dec. 13. Unknown suspects took them after unlawfully entering a garage on Trimble Road in Concord Township. The ATV is black with red flames, and the motorcycle is candy apple green in color.

• Between Dec. 13 and 15, someone illegally entered a vehicle parked at Painters Crossing Condominiums and stole $50 in cash and an Apple iPhone.

• Someone stole four Michelin tires with a17-inch by 6.5-inch aluminum rims from a car belonging to a business in the 1800 block of Route 202 in Concord Township. The incident took place between Dec. 15 and 18.

• An employee of the Naamans Creek Wawa reported his cell phone was stolen while he was helping another employee. The incident happened Dec. 19 about 5 p.m. Police are investigating.

• A 20-year-old man is accused of indecent exposure for an incident at the East Marlborough Township Walmart between Dec. 4 and Dec. 17. Police identified the suspect as Alonso Rodriguez. He allegedly masturbated in the parking lot in front of an employee.

• State police said three people, one man and two women, stole $188 worth of merchandise from the Walmart in East Marlborough Township at 8:48 a.m. on Nov. 18. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-268-2022.

• Sometime between May 20, 2013, and Dec. 25, 2017, someone stole a set of sterling silver William & Mary by Lunt six-piece silverware set from a property in the 500 block of N. Walnut Road in East Marlborough Township. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 610-268-2022.

• Kenneth S. Roberts, 77, of Kennett Square, was arrested for DUI, according to a state police report. The incident happened 6:49 p.m. on Dec. 19 on Newark Road at Church Road in West Marlborough Township.

• A one-vehicle accident led to a driver being arrested for DUI. State police said Gustavo A. Lopez-Catalan, 31, of Landenberg, was driving south on Penn Green Road near Laurel Woods Road in New Garden Township when he lost control of the vehicle while trying to negotiate a left-hand curve. The 1997 Ford Explorer ran off the road and struck a metal guide rail. The passenger side front wheel broke off as did brake components and suspension rods, the report said. The driver tried to regain control, according to police, but couldn't because of the damage, and then the Explorer struck a concrete bridge abutment. The accident happened 10:18 a.m. on Dec. 23.

• On Nov. 22, a man described only as bald with facial hair removed almost $600 worth of merchandise from the East Marlborough Walmart. The suspect then fled in a black Ford F150 with wood panels on the back and Delaware tag C68604.

Southern Chester County Regional Police

• Jerisha S. Pernsley, 23, of Coatesville was arrested on suspicion of DUI and related traffic offenses, as well as for violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act, a Southern Chester County Regional police report said. According to that report, an SCCRPD police officer was traveling east in the 700 block of West Cypress Street, which is a one-way street eastbound and observed a Honda Accord traveling the wrong direction towards him. To avoid a head-on collision, he stopped and activated his emergency lights and siren. The vehicle came to a stop approximately 10 feet from the front of the police vehicle. The driver then raised her hands in the air and stared at him.  She then activated her left turn signal and attempted to pass him in the right lane. Police said they detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and observed that Pernsley showed indications of being under the influence. A search of the vehicle produced loose marijuana flakes throughout the interior and other contraband consistent with marijuana use. The incident occurred Dec. 19 at approximately 7:50 p.m., in the 700 block of West Cypress Street, in New Garden Township.

• Police said Florence P. Kolodi, 57, of Newark, was arrested and charged with DUI and a traffic offense, after the Chevrolet SUV she was operating was stopped for an equipment violation shortly after 3 p.m. on Dec. 22. Police said they observed indicators suggesting intoxication. After failing field sobriety tests, Kolodi was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. She submitted to a chemical test of her breath, resulting in a blood alcohol level of 0.186 percent

• Robert V. Crew III, 52, of Landenberg, was arrested and charged with DUI and a traffic offense, after the Jeep he was driving was stopped for not displaying a registration plate, a police report said. The incident occurred 1:52 a.m. on Dec. 23, in the 100 block of Newark Road, in New Garden Township. Upon making contact with Crew, police observed numerous indicators suggesting intoxication. After failing field sobriety tests, Crew was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. He submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a blood alcohol level of 0.155 percent.

• Southern Chester County Regional police said Isael Tapia, 27, of Avondale, was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act, along with several traffic offenses, after the Nissan sedan he was driving was stopped for erratic driving. Police said they detected the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle and observed a glass pipe containing suspected marijuana on the dashboard. A query of Tapia's license status through PennDOT showed that he was driving while under suspension. Tapia was taken into custody for possession of a small amount of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia. The incident occurred on Dec. 24 at 8:47 a.m. in the 1600 block of Baltimore Pike, in New Garden Township.
