Roadwork for Aug. 19 through Aug. 25

PennDOT has announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect residents in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of Aug. 19 through Aug. 25. Motorists are urged to allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones.

• Construction will begin Monday, Aug. 28, to rehabilitate the structurally deficient bridge carrying Township Road over Route 1 in Lower Oxford Township. Construction on the bridge is expected to be completed in late September. Due to the nature of the bridge repairs, Township Road will be closed and detoured during construction between Cullen Road and Hall Road. Motorists will be directed to use Route 10 (Limestone Road), Conner Road and Township Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

• Lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled on Newark Road between Route 41 and New Garden Road on Monday, Aug. 21, through Saturday, Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for widening activities as part of a project to improve travel and safety at the intersection of Route 41 and Newark Road in New Garden Township. The project is scheduled to be completed in spring 2018.

• Southbound U.S. 202 will be reduced from three lanes to two between the Route 401 and Boot Road interchanges in East Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Aug. 25, from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. the following morning, for construction activities at the U.S. 30 Interchange.

• Detours remain in effect on Route 926 because of work on the bridge over the Brandywine Creek between Pocopson and Birmingham townships. The bridge remains closed for repair through Sept. 1.

• Periodic lane restrictions on Route 322 between Route 1 and Clayton Park Drive continue through Oct. 20 as part of the reconstruction and road widening of Route 322.
