‘Love is in the Air’ with the Kennett Symphony

The Kennett Symphony of Chester County under the direction of Music Director, Michael Hall, presents Symphony Under The Stars – Love is in the Air.  The concert will be held at Longwood Garden’s Open Air Theatre on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 7:30 pm.  In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held inside at Unionville High School Auditorium.

Relax with friends and family, and enjoy an evening under the stars.  Enjoy a potpourri of light classics and pops, including selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s enchanted The King and I, John Williams’ Love Theme from Star Wars Episode II, and Tchaikovsky’s musical depiction of young love and impending tragedy in Romeo and Julie Fantasy-Overture. Performances by the winners of the Symphony’s Instrumental and Vocal competitions give you the opportunity to say, “I heard them when.”

  • Vocal Competition Winner: Korean Soprano Joowon Chae studies at the Mannes School of Music under the tutelage of Ruth Falcon. She completed her M.M. in Opera at Temple University in Philadelphia, U.S.A. and her B.M. in vocal performance at Seoul National University in Seoul.
  • Instrumental Competition Winner: Flutist, Audrey Emata, 16, just returned from Europe, where she enjoyed summer studies with Julien Beaudiment and Sir James Galway. During the school year, she attends Juilliard Pre-College, where her teachers have been Brad Garner and Demarre McGill, and beginning this fall, Carol Wincenc.

Single ticket prices are $40 in advance, $45 on the day of the concert, students are $10.

Ticket price includes the concert, access to visit Longwood Gardens during the day on the day of the concert, the post-concert illuminated fountain performance in the new Main Fountain Garden, and free parking.

Celebrating its 76th season, the Kennett Symphony of Chester County is Chester County’s only fully professional symphony orchestra.  Based in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, the Symphony serves residents of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey.  In addition to presenting varied and entertaining orchestral concerts, the Kennett Symphony encourages young musicians through annual Instrumental and Voice Competitions and its affiliation with the Kennett Symphony Children’s Chorus.
