Police Log May 3: Careless driving; harassment

• State police charged Martin Hineman, 46, of Glen Mills, following an accident on the Conchester Highway on April 27, a report said. According to police, Hineman was driving west in the single westbound lane east of Cambridge Drive at 1:45 a.m., when his Ford F150 went off the road and crossed over the shoulder into a grassy area. The truck then hit a utility pole and a work zone sign. Police also said Hineman was not wearing a seatbelt and did receive minor injuries. Police also said he refused EMS treatment.

• Vail C. Orso, 21, of Chadds Ford, was charged with careless driving according to a report from the state police. The report said Orso was driving south on Route 202, just north of Route 1, shortly after 10 p.m. on April 25. The light turned red, and he stopped in the right left-turn lane, but then pulled into the straight through lane and struck another vehicle, then continued driving south failing to render aid or give information, police said. No injuries were reported.

• Police are investigating an incident that happened at the McDonald’s on Route 202 and Christy Drive in Chadds Ford. A state police report said a 50-year-old man struck a 41-year-old woman. The incident happened at 8:14 p.m. on April 15.

• Someone stole a cash register and $10 from Northbrook Marketplace sometime between 10 p.m. on April 13 and 6:18 a.m. on April 14. Police said the unknown suspect broke in through a rear door. Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Avondale at 610-268-2022.

• State police from the Avondale barracks said they cited two people — a man and a woman, both in their 60s — for harassment at 4:13 a.m. on March 20. The couple — who live on McFadden Road in Pennsbury Township — got into a verbal argument that became physical, the report said.

• A 19-year-old driver was cited following a one-vehicle accident on Doe Run Road in West Marlborough Township on March 1. Police said Christopher L. Brown, of Coatesville, was driving a 2001 Ford Focus south on Doe Run just south of Rookery Road when power in the car failed as he was negotiating a right-hand curve. The car hit an embankment and overturned before coming to rest on the shoulder of Doe Run Road.  No injuries were reported.
