Four Prophet String Band will perform at Darlington Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 4.

• On Jan. 30, Chadds Ford Township will hold another informational meeting regarding the Pettinaro commercial development planned for Ridge Road and Route 202. A representative from PennDOT is expected to attend the 6 p.m. meeting at the Chadds Ford Township municipal building.

• The Chadds Ford Gallery presents a new exhibit, "Passages," paintings of various means and ways of travel. The exhibit opens Friday, Feb. 10, 5 to 8 p.m. and continues through Sunday, Feb. 26. • Kennett Area Community Service will hold its sixth annual Empty Bowls event on Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Red Clay Room in Kennett Square. Empty Bowls is an international, grassroots, crafts-based effort to end hunger. We invite the community to join us and support our mission to provide nutritional food to more than 1,200 individuals each month. Learn how KACS is eliminating hunger and food insecurity in our community, enjoy a simple meal of soup and salad and leave with a handmade bowl as a reminder of families in need. Tickets are available for $25. Lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner is from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

• Darlington Arts Center welcomes bluegrass group Four Prophet String Band and local artist Fran Atkinson for an evening of art and music on Saturday, Feb. 4. The evening will begin with a free gallery reception for local Atkinson at 6:30 p.m. Four Prophet String Band will perform takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. as part of Darlington’s Coffee House Concert Series. Tickets are $15 person or $40 for a 4-pack of tickets. Free coffee, tea, and desserts are included with tickets. This event is BYOB – corkscrew and glasses are provided. • The Unionville-Chadds Ford Education Foundation will hold its annual gala on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 7-11 p.m. at The Gables on Route 1 — 423 Baltimore Pike — in Pennsbury Township. Tickets are $65 for members, $75 for nonmembers. Tickets may be purchased online at https://www.ucfedfoundation.org

• In partnership with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, La Comunidad Hispana will host free tax return support in their Kennett Square location for the fourth year. Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., from Jan. 28 through April 15, certified volunteers from the VITA program will be available at LCH to help families file their returns. VITA is offered at multiple sites around southern Chester County. PAWS for People is offering training sessions for potential pet therapy teams on Feb 2 and 16, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Adult Care Chester County, 500 Old Forge Lane in Kennett Square. Both sessions are required. They are open to anyone with a gentle, people-friendly pet who is interested in volunteering time to work with children and adults with varying needs. PAWS for People provides therapeutic visits to individuals who will benefit from interaction with a well-trained loving pet. Pre-registration required.
