Unwind for good cause at ‘Stroud Uncorked’

Beer and beakers and liquor and labs will converge with conviviality on Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. in Avondale for “Stroud Uncorked.”

The over-21 set is invited to join the Young Friends of the Stroud Center for an autumn evening on the scenic campus of the Stroud Water Research Center to celebrate freshwater research, environmental education, and watershed restoration, all while raising funds to help make them happen.

Tickets are $50 per person and include wine from Galer Estate Vineyard & Winery, beer from Kennett Brewing Company and Troegs Brewery, and Tito’s Vodka. Hors d’oeuvres will be prepared by local favorites such as Portabello’s, the Whip Tavern, Talula’s Table, Sovana Bistro, Eclat, Nomadic Pies, and the Farm at Doe Run.

Live music will be provided by the Wilmington-based Sidepiece Acoustic Duo. The evening’s sponsors include Mr. and Mrs. Michael Moran and the Tri-M Group.

Since 1967, the Stroud Water Research Center’s internationally acclaimed scientists and educators have focused on fresh water. Their cutting-edge research has helped businesses, government policy makers, landowners, and community make informed decisions about issues that affect water quality and availability — from land use planning and storm water management to water treatment and conservation.

The Stroud Water Research Center is located at 970 Spencer Road in Avondale. For more information, visit http://www.stroudcenter.org/index.shtm.
