Students at the Tick Tock Early Learning Center are hoping area residents will support the center's annual golf fundraiser on Monday, Sept. 19.

Participants will be able to play a championship golf course while helping to raise needed funds to provide high-quality child care and preschool education for the children of working families in the community.

The Tick Tock Early Learning Center celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. It has been providing affordable childcare and education for low-income families in southern Chester County since a group of Quaker women started it in 1964, serving eight children. Since then, Tick Tock has expanded to serve more than 125 children, 18 months through 14 years old.

The event's shotgun scramble will start at 1 p.m., with registration and lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. For $175, individual golfers will be treated to 18 holes of golf with a cart, lunch, open-wine and beer hour after the tournament and an elegant dinner and dessert buffet. Golfers will also receive an insulated bag, hats, ball markers and tees. Prizes will be awarded for the winning team, closest to the pin and the longest drive, a Tick Tock press release said.

New this year is the opportunity for teams to improve their scores with a drive by PGA pro Jeff Crittenden, also known as “Critter.” Crittenden, a West Chester native and graduate of Millersville University, is known for being one of the top long drivers in America.

Those who don’t play golf are encouraged to attend the evening events beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the open wine/beer hour, dinner buffet and fabulous silent auction. The featured auction item is four Walt Disney World Resort one-day park hopper passes valued at $620 and good for two years, the release said.

Sponsors and golfers alike help ensure the success of this fundraiser. All proceeds go directly to improving the Tick Tock facility, expanding program services, and enriching curriculum. Those unable to play or attend are urged to make a donation.

Corporate, individual and team sponsorship packages are available, beginning at $75, with opportunities for cart signs, tee box signs, event signage and more.   A title sponsorship includes an exclusive promotional package with a local radio station; call Tick Tock for more information.
