Chesco Pops to feature musical innovator

There’s no need for Philadelphia and Boston to get all the attention: Chester County has its own Pops Orchestra, which is poised to present its Summer Concert Series.

Under the direction of Joseph Gehring, the Chesco Pops is scheduled to perform on Saturday, July 23, at 7 p.m. at Immaculata University’s Alumnae Hall Theater, 1145 King Road, Immaculata, Pa. 19345; on Sunday, July 24, at 3 p.m., at Phoenixville Area Middle School, 1392 Gay Street, Phoenixville, Pa., 19460; and on Saturday, July 30, at 7 p.m., at Fugett Middle School, 500 Ellis Lane, West Chester, Pa., 19382.

The featured guest will be Brian Fitzy, a vocalist, electric violinist, guitarist, beat-boxer, producer, and composer, with five albums recorded to date. Fitzy’s multi-instrumentalist talents feature live looping technology, which involves recording music and sound and then layering it into the performance. Fitzy, who has played in venues ranging from Madison Square Garden to Lincoln Financial Field, will be joined by the full Chesco Pops Orchestra, producing an innovative, exciting program.

Other featured material in the concert will include music from the Beatles and the popular Broadway musical “Miss Saigon.”

Since its inception in the fall of 2005, the 65-member Chester County Pops Orchestra has been attracting audiences throughout the county with the best of pops, jazz and light classical music. These players are fine instrumentalists from all over Chester County and from all walks of life, who truly love making music together.
