Kennett Brewfest expecting another sellout

Tickets are on sale for the 19th Annual Kennett Brewfest, a fundraiser designed to quench participants’ thirst for craft beers.

Craft beer will be flowing during the 19th Annual Kennett Brewfest, which is scheduled for Oct. 1.

However, prospective attendees who prefer the event’s higher-priced Connoisseur Tasting, which includes food and runs longer than the regular event, are out of luck. Those tickets sold out within a couple of hours, said Mary Hutchins, executive director of Historic Kennett Square, the Brewfest sponsor.

Hutchins said regular tickets are still available, but will likely sell out before the popular event occurs on Oct. 1. This year, it will run from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., and more than 90 breweries are expected to participate.

Organizers said they expect to have the list of participating brewers posted on the event’s website – http://kennettbrewfest.com – within the next couple of weeks. The companies typically wait until after Philly Beer Week, a 10-day craft beer festival in Philadelphia that ended on Sunday, June 12, to make their commitments.

General admission tickets, which include unlimited, two-ounce tastings and live music, cost $50; for designated drivers, the cost is $15, which includes non-alcoholic drinks. All ticket-holders must present proof of age at the door. To purchase tickets, click here .

The Kennett Brewfest is the winner of a Pennsylvania Downtown Center special event award. It was chosen for its economic impact on the community, the large attendance it generates, and the level of funding it provides to the program each year, according to Historic Kennett Square. Proceeds from the event are used to fund Kennett Square events, such as holiday parades.
