Orchids in a diverse array of sizes, shapes, and colors will dominate Longwood Gardens' four-acre conservatory during the Orchid Extravaganza, which opens on Saturday, Jan. 23.

As winter makes its presence known, Longwood Gardens is offering the warmth of its four-acre conservatory, which will showcase the annual Orchid Extravaganza starting on Saturday, Jan. 23.

This exhibit offers a dazzling and diverse display of orchids, including a towering 12-foot-tall archway, a spectacular orchid curtain, and hundreds of vibrant Vanda orchids adorning the Silver Garden.

Want to immerse yourself in orchid paradise before the extravaganza opens? Longwood will feature the first of several OrKID Days on Jan. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This family-friendly event enables visitors to explore orchids firsthand at discovery stations, observe orchid illustrators in action, create an orchid illustration to take home, and enjoy a family seek-and-find.

OrKID Day activities are free with Longwood Gardens admission. OrKID Day will also be held on Feb. 15 and March 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 pm.

Longwood Gardens is located at 1001 Longwood Road, just off of Route 1 near Greenwood Road in Kennett Square. Garden hours from Jan. 11 through March 4 are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information on tickets and programs, visit http://longwoodgardens.org.
