Longwood Fire Co. to host annual open house

Longwood Fire Company’s annual open house on Sunday, Oct. 18, will include food, family fun, and life-saving demonstrations.

“Longwood Fire Company is a big part of our community and we want our neighbors to have a chance to visit our facility and to meet all of our wonderful personnel,” said Chief A. J. McCarthy in a press release. “We feel it is important for the community to become familiar with Longwood Fire Company.”

Longwood Fire Company is located at 1001 East Baltimore Pike, near Longwood Gardens. The open house will take place from noon until 3 p.m. The public event is free and will include demonstrations and family activities. Refreshments provided by Herr’s Food and Wawa will be served, the release said.

Penn Medicine’s Chester County Hospital will be providing Hands Only CPR and AED demonstrations.  There will also be a vehicle rescue demonstration with the tentative time set for 1:30 p.m. Also, a LifeNet Air Medical Chopper is planning to be at the open house from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m.

Additional activities will include fire extinguisher simulations, kid-friendly, fire prevention activities along with tours of the station. Members of the Kennett Township Police Department are also expected to participate.
