Gray skies and a frequent drizzle kept many people away from Chadds Ford Days Saturday. And a late afternoon heavy rain closed the first day of the weekend fair at 4 p.m., an hour earlier than scheduled.

Still, those who braved the less than ideal weather had food to eat, music to listen to, crafters to watch and venders from whom they could buy wares. They were able to tour the John Chad House and get some bread baked in the beehive oven. There was also a children’s area and some goats to pet.

Sunday, however, was a different story when rain gave way to sunshine.

"Sunday was great , cool, breezy," said Mary Marines who manned a table for the Chadds Ford Business Association.  "Good food nice crowd and great music.  All in all nice day certainly made up for Saturday."
