Police: Missing couple was lost in woods

The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department is pleased to report that Dominic Jampo, 76, and Barbara Jampo, 77, were located Saturday night after the Pennsylvania State Police from the Reading barracks responded to a home in Union Township in Berks County.

Police said the couple’s silver 2007 Lexus was parked in a private driveway, and a witness reported that that an elderly couple had left the vehicle and walked into the woods.

Troopers were able to locate the disoriented couple and immediately called for emergency medical services, police said.  The couple was transported by ambulance to Pottstown Hospital for medical evaluations, police said.

Police said the Jampos, who recently moved into the Bellingham Retirement Community in East Goshen, disappeared after telling their son on Friday, Sept. 11, at 9:30 a.m. that they were planning to go to the grocery store.

Their son, who said his parents do not travel with a cell phone, became concerned when he was unable to contact them later, police said. Police said they were unable to locate the couple, who both have medical impairments, after checking with local hospitals and also the couple’s former home in Sellersville.

The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department expressed thanks to those who assisted with the search.
