Stargazing, socializing to protect scenic vistas

Summertime stargazing and socializing at one of the region’s premier conservation sites await guests of Friday Night Lights, the popular event hosted by Natural Lands Trust (NLT) at the picturesque ChesLen Preserve.

Screen Shot 2015-06-16 at 1.27.57 AMNow in its fifth year, Friday Night Lights will take place on Friday, July 10, from 8 to 11 p.m. Black Horse Motel and New Sweden will provide live music.

In addition, expert astronomers from the Chesmont Astronomical Society and the Delaware Astronomical Society will train telescopes on faraway stars, inviting all to take a peek. Victory Brewing Company will provide its craft beer, local wines will be offered, and sweet and savory snacks will be served.

Guests should bring lawn chairs or a blanket and wear sturdy shoes as the ground is uneven. Dogs and coolers are not permitted, and the event is suitable for those ages 21 and older.

Advance ticket purchase is required. NLT members and WXPN members are $15 apiece; non-member tickets are $25. Proceeds benefit NLT’s many conservation initiatives.
