The Kennett-Unionville Relay for Life will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 5, and end at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 6.

This event is targeted to raise over $45,000 for the American Cancer Society to support groundbreaking research and patient needs. So far over 250 people on 29 teams are signed up, and have raised over $30,000, a Relay for Life press release said.

In addition to walking or running on the track through the night, activities planned  include having the Philadelphia Union soccer club lead games and exercises between 6 and 8 p.m., recognition of cancer survivors at 7 p.m., hula hoop and Zumba lessons at several different times, a luminaria ceremony to remember those who have lost their fight against cancer at 9 p.m, kids' field games, music, movies and more.

Everyone in the community is invited to participate, whether you belong to a team or want to come out on your own.

“Everyone in our community has been affected by cancer through the illness of a family member, friend or their own affliction, so everyone can participate and help us find a cure,” Adam Guyer, chairman of the event organizing committee, said in the release.
