The Kennett Area Rotaract Club founding officers

The Kennett Area Rotaract Club reached its first two milestones since its founding this winter. The club inducted its first slate of officers on Wednesday, Feb. 25. They are Amanda Schneider, secretary and international service chairperson; Laura Mackiewicz, community service chairperson; President, Brooke Williams; Matthew Conant, vice president. Not present for the induction was Doug Palic, the finances chairperson and Ben Wann, treasurer and club services chairperson.

The second milestone is the Rotaract Club has taken on its first project – helping children escape slavery.  In a press release Brooke Williams said, “It costs about $360 per child to rescue them from slavery. These are the funds needed to remove them from the slavery environment and enroll them into an educational program that will give them the skills they need to survive and thrive independently.” Fundraising for this project will start soon.

The Kennett Area Rotaract Club meets the second and fourth Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Kennett Area YMCA. Membership is open to everyone between the ages of 21 and 39.
