Robert Kevin Keefe, 56, beloved son and brother, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, in California. He succumbed to the side effects of high dose radiation therapy resulting in radiation fibrosis.

Born in Wilmington, he attended Chadds Ford Elementary, The Tatnall School, and graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in agricultural business. Following ROTC in college, he served active duty in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Okla., Field Artillery, Lance Missiles. After receiving treatment for Hodgkin's disease, he preceded to get his MBA from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. He retired as a captain in the U.S. Army.

He then moved to Chadds Ford and worked at Boscov's as manager of the stationary department until relocating to San Francisco, Calif., to work for Charles Schwab & Co. as a voice technology IT specialist for 20 years, the last five in Denver, Colo. Kevin was also an EMT at the Concordville Fire Co. in Concordville.

He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends across the country. He loved riding his motorcycle, reading and travelling. He loved Alaska and the Iditarod and had many flights and road trips over the beautiful state.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Christina H. Keefe of Chadds Ford. He is survived by his father, Col. Robert L. Keefe Jr. of Walnut Creek, Calif.; his sister, Tara Ellen Keefe and her spouse Dr. Deborah Ann Banskter, of Benicia, Calif. his sister Rebecca Keefe Brown and her husband, Duane Brown; their children Matthew and Michael Brown of Middletown, Del., and Megan Brown and his great nephew Cameron Joseph Brown and great nieces Brynnleigh Mae and Cassidy Madison Martz of Wilmington. He is also survived by his aunt, Helen Harris Spencer of Roanoke, Va.

Services will be held at Christ Church Christiana Hundred in Greenville, Del., on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery.

In memory of his beloved mother, Kevin requested in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
