Roadwork for the week of Dec. 7

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect residents in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of Dec. 7 through Dec. 14. PennDOT recommends that motorists allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones.

Lane restrictions will continue through Dec. 29 on northbound Route 202 at Paoli Pike for construction on the overhead Fern Hill Road Bridge, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. The bridge rehabilitation will require the closure of the right lane on northbound Route 202 between Paoli Pike and Route 322 through Dec. 14, and Fern Hill Road will be closed through Dec. 20. Detours are posted.

Drivers will also face nighttime lane closures next week on Route 202 between the Chesterbrook and Route 401 interchanges in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland Townships. Crews will work from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to install rumble strips and additional reflective pavement markers on the newly opened six-lane section of the highway. Intermittent lane closures will occur from Monday, Dec. 8, through Thursday, Dec. 11, for sweeping between the Route 29 and Gulph Road exits.

Cable guide rail installation on Route 1 in both directions in Kennett and New Garden Townships between Newark Road and East Baltimore Pike will continue to necessitate shoulder closures. Crews are scheduled to work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 19.

The roundabout project continues on Wawaset Road in Pocopson Township. Wawaset Road will remain closed until Dec. 31 between Lenape-Unionville and Corinne Roads; detours are posted. Detours are also posted on Route 52, which will also be closed through Dec. 31 between Pocopson and Locust Grove Roads in Pocopson Township for roundabout reconstruction.

Burnt Mill Road in Kennett Township is closed and detoured between Norway and Spring Mill Roads indefinitely while crews prepare for repairs to a bridge that collapsed on April 24.

Island installation will cause lane restrictions on Kaolin Road at Ewart and Limestone Roads in New Garden Township. The work will be done from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 12.

Utility installation will require Marshall Street between High Street and Montgomery Avenue in West Chester Borough to be closed through Dec. 19; a detour is posted. The work will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Southbound Route 100 will be reduced to one lane between Route 113 and Shoen Road in Uwchlan and West Whiteland Townships on Monday, Dec. 8, through Friday, Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for widening, part of the $17.4 million project to expand the highway from two lanes to three lanes in each direction.

Weekday closures on Paoli Pike — between Warren Avenue and Devon Road — will continue in Willistown Township for utility installation. The closures will be in effect Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Jan. 31. Detours will be in effect.
