This Saturday the new Street Road Artist Space presents the final day to see "Arterial Moves" which is an international assemblage artistic response to the increased traffic issues on Routes 41 and 926. Join the Street Road artists and United Kingdom artist Adrian Barron this Saturday from 1-4pm and help plant a new forest of Penn Oak acorns!

To help spur you along, there will be delicious foods from Burnt Onion BBQ, the Nomadic Pies Food Truck, and plenty of hot chocolate. Adrian will give a brief introduction to the Penn Oaks acorn project at 1 pm, which is part of his Supervene Forest Installation, designed to counteract the urbanization of the Chester County Landscape. Street Road is located at the intersection of Routes 41 and 926 in a newly Tom Savage renovated 1930's cottage that was slated for demolition. What a cool way to merge art, environment and action, and get some exercise at the same time.

Speaking of beautiful Chester County Landscapes, this past weekend's Brandywine Plein Air competition and sale was a tremendous success for Children's Beach House, and Richard Garrett, the Executive Director. The Gala event was held at Winterthur and raised tens of thousands for this wonderful non-profit, and sold over 100 paintings as well!

Evocative landscape painter John Pompeo will be showing his beautiful paintings of Chester County landscapes this Thursday, October 30th at Galer Estate Winery from 4-8 pm. HIs work is full of bright Fall colors, masterful brushwork and a feeling of the sublime. Come meet this wonderful artist and enjoy some wine and good company.

One of my all time favorite Chester County abstract artists, Su Horty, has made it to the big-time and is exhibiting in her first solo show in Philadelphia. The "Essence" opening reception is November 7th from 6-9pm at the Bluestone Fine Art Gallery in Old City, Philadelphia. The show starts Monday November 3rd through the 28th. Su presents geometric color filled blocks that rest and float in an abstracted landscape plane. They have a quiet music to them that is both mesmerizing and uplifting.

Stay tuned for next week's big Unionville Art Gala at Unionville High School in Kennett Square, opening shows at Mala Galleria, Chester County Art Association and lots of other first Friday openings and happenings all over Chester County.
