Edwin Sharp Hineman Jr., 74, of Chadds Ford, died Oct. 4, at Riddle Memorial Hospital.

Born on March 27, 1940 in Wilmington, he was the son of Edwin and Anna Hineman. Mr. Hineman spent his childhood in Wilmington until moving to Chadds Ford where he was raised on his father's thoroughbred horse farm. He attended Unionville High School, graduated from Wake Forest College and served in the United States Army attaining the rank of captain.

He spent the balance of his working life, 42 yrs, at Delaware County Supply becoming president for the family lumber yard which his grandfather started. He married Susan Omwake in 1963 and had two children, Edwin S. Hineman III & Lisa Michelle Hineman.

Eddie loved the outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing with friends and family on a regular basis. Following in the footsteps of his father, he shared the love of horse racing. He owned, bred and raced thoroughbred horses. He was also a member of the Pemnnsylvania Horse Breeders Association.

Eddie was quite active in public service. He spent time sitting on the Board of trustees for Elam Church, Birmingham Township's Planning Commission, Unionville-Chadds Ford District's School Board and Crozer Chester Medical Center's Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and a 32nd Degree Master Mason.

He is survived by girlfriend, Helen Pennington; son, Ed Hineman III; daughter Lisa Eaton: brothers, Clifford and Martin Hineman; sister, Susan Jenkins; half-brother, Evan Hineman along with many cousins, niece's and nephews.

His memorial service is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 4 Westtown Road, Thornton, PA 19373 where friends may call between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wild Turkey foundation www.outdoordealhound.com/p-1061-annual-giving.aspx
