Richard Allen Lyons, 83, of West Grove, died Monday, Sept. 22, at Twin Pines Health Care Center.
Born in Chester, he was the son of the late George W. and Winifred LeTourneau Lyons.
A builder by trade and an architect by passion, he worked for a variety of construction companies in the Delaware and Chester County areas as well as in the state of Delaware. He also owned and operated his own construction companies throughout the years building custom homes and historic house and barn renovations.
Richard was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School, class of 1949 where he was captain of the football team. He married Joan Ann Gray of Wilmington, in 1950 and had seven children. They divorced in 1982.
He is survived by three sons, Michael Allen Lyons and his wife Shirley of Chester, Va., Jeffrey Allen Lyons and his wife Caroline of Lincoln University, and Richard Allen Lyons, Jr. of Richmond, Va.; four daughters, Sam Lyons of Downingtown, Luanne Gray Lyons-Smith and her husband Russell of Pocopson, Barbara Lee Lyons of Downingtown, and Toni Joanne Ritchey and her husband Jeffrey of Elverson; one sister, Joan Lee Kelly of Oceanport, N.J.; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services and interment will be held privately.
