Life on Track: Interested or committed?

Are you interested in living the most incredible life you could ever imagine for yourself. If you are, you’ll never live it. Here’s why.

When you are interested in something, you can take it or leave it. When you are interested in something, you will let other things get in the way of having it. When you are interested in doing something, if there is an outside circumstance that gets in the way, you’ll let your circumstances dictate whether or not you do it. Being interested in something is great, however, it’s not going to be enough.

In order to truly be, do, or have what you want in your life, you must be committed to it. A lot of people are interested in losing weight. A lot of people are interested in creating a better relationship. A lot of people are interested in finding a new job. A lot of people are interested in improving their life and achieving their goals. They’re not committed though.

Here is the difference. When you are committed to losing weight, creating a better relationship, finding a new job, improving your life, or achieving your goals, you’ll stop at nothing to make it happen. When you are committed, you don’t let your circumstances determine how your day goes. When you are committed, you show up, intentionally, and make life happen the way you want it to happen.

That doesn’t mean that life is somehow easier when you commit to what you want. It just means that you no longer allow life to be the way you don’t want it to be. You walk taller, speak bolder, choose wiser, and commit forever. Commitment isn’t something that can be broken, unless you choose to break it. Commitment is a way of being in your life.

Personally, I am committed to doing everything I can to make this world a better place while I’m here on this earth. I’m even more committed to changing this world after I’m dead. That’s why I am setting in motion now, the things that I want to see continue long after I’m gone. I’m not interested in changing the world; I’m committed to it!

So what are you committed to? It could be something you are interested in doing right now, however, unless you flip the switch, make the choice, and commit today to commit your life to it, you won’t accomplish it. Commitment is a mindset. We commit to something and one of two things happen. We either become successful in our quest to accomplish it, or we die. Woo hoo. Good news, right?

Let me close with this question. Would you rather look back, years from now, knowing you did everything you could to stay committed to what mattered to you, or look back, hopefully years from now, and regret never committing to what you wanted to do, be, or have?

To me, regret is the scariest reason of all, not to commit to something. It’s commitment, for even one day, that can change the course of life forever. I encourage you, today, to pick just one thing that you have been interested in doing for some time now, and commit to being, doing, or having it as soon as possible. Then, do everything you can to make that your reality.
