The heavy rain on May 16 forced a rescheduling of the traditional May Fair at Chadds Ford Elementary School. While the date was changed to May 23, the tradition lived on with performances locals have come to expect — such as the first-graders singing “I Promise” (shown in main photo.). One of them is the May Pole Dance. (See main photo.)

Also on May 23, the annual Antique Show at the Brandywine River Museum of Art got underway with a preview party.

Brandywine Baptist Church held its annual Memorial Day with retied Air Force Col. David Schiller speaking before youngsters placed flowers at the graves of former US servicemen and women. An honor guard also gave a gun salute to those who had served.
