Police Log May 29: DUIs, accidents and fugitives from justice

PSP Logo• Francis DiProspero, of Cochranville, was charged with DUI on May 23. Police said he was stopped at 1 a.m. and found to be under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance. The stop was made on Route 1 at Cheney Road.

• State police from Troop K, Media barracks, said Danielle Zappone, of West Grove, was arrested for possession of cocaine following a traffic stop along Route 1 at Cheney Road at 1 a.m. on May 23.

• A Kennett Square woman was accused of DUI. A police report said Meghann McManus was determined to be under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop on Route 322 shortly after 1 a.m. on May 23.

• Police are investigating a hit and run accident that happened in the Duffer’s Pub parking lot just before midnight on May 22. The victim was a 34-year-old man from Cheyney, police said.

• A woman who was panhandling along Route 202 on May 22 was arrested as a fugitive from justice. A report from Pennsylvania State Police said Frances Margaret Williamson, 48, of Bear, Del., was arrested when it was determined there was an active warrant for her arrest from New Jersey.

• Police also arrested Susan Ann Manning, 42, identified as being from Chadds Ford. While investigating a vehicle crash, a report said, police discovered there was an active arrest warrant for Manning from Delaware. The arrest was made on May 12.

• State police from Troop J, Avondale barracks, charged a 53-year-old Newark man with DUI following a traffic stop in Pennsbury Township. A report said Thomas Edward Glass was stopped on Parkersville Road north of Route 1 shortly before midnight on May 16. No other details were provided.

• A four-car crash at the intersection of routes 1 and 202 left three people cited but no injuries were reported. The accident happened just before 7 p.m. on May 21. Two vehicles were heading south on 202 when the lead vehicle stopped before making a right hand turn onto Route 1. The second car struck that vehicle from behind. The second car continued out of control and crossed into the southbound lanes of Route 1, over the median and hit two other vehicles in the northbound lanes of Route 1.

• A West Chester man, Wilson Toro Jr., 41, was charged with DUI following a four-vehicle accident on Route 202 at Dilworthtown Road on May 23 just after 10 p.m. No injuries were reported and no details of the accident were available.

• A man identified only as Sean Paul McDade was taken into custody for DUI after being stopped at 3 a.m. on Route 202 at Oakland Road on May 22. Police said he was stopped for failing to stay in one lane of traffic.

• Police are investigating an apparent hit and run that occurred on Kelton Road in Pennsbury Township on May 22. One vehicle of unknown make or model was traveling east on Kelton when it failed to negotiate a turn properly and drifted into the westbound lane where it struck an oncoming vehicle on the rear left side.

• A vehicle stolen in Pennsbury Township was recovered in West Chester the same day it was taken. Police said someone entered the unlocked vehicle and used the keys that had been left inside to steal the vehicle. It was taken from a property on Street Road.
