Chadds Ford Historical Society is offering paid internships for the the summer of 2014.

The purpose of the internship is to expose students to the various working aspects of historic house museums and a small local historical society. To achieve this goal interns will assist with guiding at the John Chads and Barns-Brinton Houses along with welcoming and interpretation at the Barn Visitors Center. In addition interns will complete a project specifically tailored to the intern's skills, abilities, interests and career goals.

Interns will be provided with access to literature that will enable him/her to become knowledgeable regarding 18th century ways of life, thereby allowing the intern to inform visitors accurately when conducting tours. Additionally, interns will be offered the opportunity to learn an 18th century craft for demonstration purposes. They will be provided with background information to assist with the interpretation of the John Chads House and the Barns-Brinton House. Prior to independent guiding, interns will shadow an experienced guide for at least one weekend at each house, and then conduct tours for approval at each house.

The period of internship is May 24 through August 31: One weekday per week (9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) along with Saturdays and Sundays (12:45 until 5:15 p.m.).
