Gary McAnelly, 69, of Newtown Square, died peacefully in his home on Jan. 27.

Born in Washington DC, he has resided in Newtown Square since 2005 previously residing in Chadds Ford. As a sergeant in the USMC, he proudly served his country as his father and stepfather did before him.

Gary started his automotive career in 1968 working for GMAC and then Ford Motor Credit. After a few years in the showroom, Gary became a partner in the Lincoln Mercury dealership of Springfield. Gary became the first Pennsylvania KIA dealer in 1997. In 2002 he acquired his partner’s interest and became the president/owner of Ryan Lincoln Mercury KIA. Ryan KIA was born in 2008 and Gary has made the dealership stronger than ever.

He was an avid Eagles fan, enjoyed flying his plane and spending time with his partner, Patti Wallace at their Florida home.

He was preceded in death by both his biological and stepfathers and a sister, Pam Catala.

Survivors are his mother, Lorene Collins; companion, Patti Wallace; son, Ryan McAnelly and wife Brianne; son, Eric McAnelly; daughter, Kelsy McAnelly; two grandchildren, Rylan and Caelyn; brother, Steven McAnelly and a sister, Lucinda Johnson.

Services are scheduled for noon, Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road in Garnet Valley.

Visitation is Friday, Jan. 31, 7-10 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 1, 11 a.m. to noon at the Pagano Funeral.

Interment will be private.
