Elizabeth “Betty” J. Shannon, 70, of West Grove, died at the Jennersville Regional Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 2. She was the wife of Dennis T. Shannon Sr., with whom she shared 46 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Harriet Spatig Zeller.
Betty was an elementary school teacher for 32 years, retiring in 2010 from the Southeast Delco School District.
She was a member of Assumption BVM Church in West Grove, where she had previously taught CYFF. She was very proud of being the president of the Villages at Penn Ridge, Homeowners Association.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed flowers, cooking, and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Dennis T. Shannon, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Haverford Township; one daughter, Betty Amabile and her husband Chris of Garnet Valley, and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one brother, George W. Zeller.
You are invited to visit with Betty’s family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8, and again from 9 to 9:45 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 9 at Assumption BVM Church, 300 State Road in West Grove. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Burial will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield.
