Joseph F. Volk, 91, of West Grove, died Saturday,

Aug. 24, at his residence. He was the husband of Dora Haines Volk, who died in 1972, and with whom he shared 25 years of marriage.

Born in West Grove, he was the so  of the late Howard T. and Nellie Brown Volk.

He was a foreman at the NVF Co. in Yorklyn, for 49 years, retiring in 1989.

Mr. Volk served his country during WWII in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands, as a member of the 11th Air Force, 343rd fighter group.

He was a life member of the New London Presbyterian Church.

Joseph called figures for square dancing music for 55 years, all over Chester County. He also sang for 125 weddings.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Volk of Philadelphia, and Richard Volk and his wife Barbara of West Grove; one brother, Howard Leslie Volk and his wife Mildred of Florida; three grandchildren, Michael, Ryan and Erica.

Joseph was predeceased by one brother, Calvin Volk.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Christian Life Center, 125 Saginaw Road, New London Township. His funeral service will follow. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery, in Kennett Square.
