Frank R. Springman Jr. of Kennett Square

Frank R. Springman Jr., 83, of Kennett Square, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, May 16. He was the husband of Elfriede Kramer Springman, with whom he shared nearly 53 years of marriage.

Mr. Springman was a captain and pilot in the US Marine Corps for five years and a toxicologist with Hoechst Pharmaceuticals Co., retiring in 1992, after more than 30 years of service.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and one daughter: Kevin Springman and his wife Susan of Chadds Ford; Stefan Springman of New York City, N.Y.; and Suzanne Delaney and her husband Kevin of Kennett Square; and one brother, Ronald Springman of Cincinnati, Ohio. Frank is also survived by six wonderful grandchildren: Kristina, Nolan, Griffin, Cormac, Daniel and Karoline.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 160 Ridge Road in Chadds Ford. His funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Frank R. Springman can be made to Longwood Gardens, attention Monica Staszensky, 1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
