• The Brandywine River Museum opened a new exhibit “The Ides of March: The Making of a Masterpiece,” Friday, March 15. The exhibit, which runs through May 19, includes 30 drawings by Andrew Wyeth that give a glimpse into the creative process and the design decisions made by the artist. Spills and

• The Delaware Museum of Natural History appointed Jill M. Karlson as the Museum's director of public programming. In this newly established position, she will oversee the Museum's Education Division, as well as the Exhibits and Communications departments. Karlson spent the last 17 years as curator of education at the Brandywine Zoo.

• Select members of the Kennett Symphony Children's Chorus, with soloist baritone Randall Scarlata, will perform excerpts from original compositions inspired by poems based on Andrew Wyeth paintings at the Brandywine River Museum, 2 p.m. on March 23.  The composer, Van Stiefel, a professor of music at West Chester University, set to music three poems written by David Livewell. The poems, from Livewell's book of poems Woven Light, are based on Andrew Wyeth's Roasted Chestnuts (1956), Me (2007) and The Big Room (1981). The program is free for members and is included in the museum admission.

• The Concord Township Easter Egg hunt takes place Saturday, March 23 at 11 a.m. The event, at 40 Bethel Road, includes a petting zoo, crafts and snacks, a press release said. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos.

• The Chaddsford Winery begins its spring celebration with Barrels on the Brandywine, Saturdays and Sundays, March 23 and 24 and 30 and 31.Guests purchase a $25 passport during this annual festival, and with it, enjoy tastings at each winery along the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail throughout the month. Reservations are not required, and Chaddsford’s classic $5 Dry Tasting and complementary Sweet Tasting are also available to supplement the Barrels Tasting.

• Local artist Annette Alessi will be holding an exhibit to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “Capturing a Moment in Time” runs from April 20 through May 31 at the Chester County Art Association Exton Square Studio. An opening reception begins 1 p.m. on April 20. Twenty percent of the profits will go toward CHOP’s cancer center.

Brandywine View Antiques is celebrating five “unbelievable and wonderful” years serving Chadds Ford. The celebration runs from Saturday March 23 and Sunday 24, 10-5PM. Guests will be the first to see the exciting Spring Preview and the opening of two additional vintage rooms with refreshments being served.

• Nutrition Retreat in Summit Crossing Shopping Center, 391 Wilmington-West Chester Pike in Concord Township, is holding a nine-week Better Body and Weight Loss Challenge beginning with an open house from 6-7 p.m. on April 3.
