Police log March 21: Arrest in Chadds Ford bank robbery

• Pennsylvania State Police have charged a 37-year-old Camden, N.J. man with robbing four banks, including the Iron Workers’ Bank in Chadds Ford Township. A police report said the state police, along with Media and Upper Darby police investigated robberies they now say were committed by George Raymond Myers. The Iron Workers Bank was robbed in November. Myers was charged with three other bank robberies in Delaware County as well as with three bank robberies in the state of Delaware.

• Someone stole a grinder pump from the Chadds Ford Tavern on March 12. The pump is valued at $2,400, police said.

• A Chadds Ford woman received a head injury when a neighbor hit her with his car. According to police, the woman was walking her dog near Grouse Trail and Pheasant Lane. Sun glare prevented the driver from seeing her, police said, and he struck her with the passenger side mirror. The accident happened just after 8 a.m. on March 13.

• Police have charged two people with harassment and criminal mischief after the pair — a 28-year-old woman from Nazareth and a 38-year-old Chadds Ford man — got into a physical altercation at the man’s residence at Painters Crossing Condominiums on March 16.

• One person was reported injured in a three-car accident on Route 1 at Evergreen Road in Concord Township on March 16. Police said the accident happened when one of the drivers, moving into the intersection from southbound Evergreen failed to stop at the traffic signal. A driver traveling south on Route 1 struck that car as it entered the intersection, and then hit a car in the northbound lane that was waiting to turn left onto Evergreen.

• Police said a Philadelphia man, Shawn Ely Fonville, 28, was arrested for DUI and narcotics possession following a traffic stop on South Creek Road in Chadds Ford Township. The arrest was made just after 3 a.m. on March 16.

• An unidentified white man is the suspect in a retail theft at the Wawa on Route 202 at Naamans Creek Road. Police said the suspect, estimated to be about 30 years old, stole an unknown quantity of candy bars and left the store without paying.

• Cash and credit cards were reported stolen from two unlocked cars in Concord Township sometime overnight between March 14 and 15. Police said $80 in cash and three credit cards were stolen from a car on Hemlock Drive and $430 was taken from a car on Jesse Court.

• Police said an Upper Darby woman had a wallet with $40 stolen from her car while it was parked on Hutton Lane in Concord Township. The theft happened sometime between 4:30 and 6 p.m. on March 13. No other information was released.

• No injuries were reported from a two-car accident on Route 52 near Fairville Road in Pennsbury Township on March 13. No names were given, but a police report said both drivers were traveling south on 52, when the lead car slowed and put on the turn signals before making a right hand turn onto Fairville. The trailing car drove onto the shoulder of the road and hit the middle of the lead car. The driver of the second car was cited for following too closely.

• A 21-year-old Kennett Square man was charged with DUI following a car/motorcycle accident on Parkersville Road in Pennsbury Township. The accident happened north of Route 1 just after 3 p.m. on March 9. No details of the accident were provided and there was no mention of injuries.

• Police cited a 17-year-old driver from West Chester with failing to yield after she struck a car on northbound Route 52 just north of Route 926. Police said the girl was leaving the Sunoco gas station lot without yielding to traffic already on the roadway just before 3 p.m. on March 15.
