The Kennett Symphony’s Annual Children’s Concert has been a family tradition for many years.  The hour long program opens with Handel’s majestic Entrance of the Queen of Sheba followed by Copland’s exciting Hoedown from Rodeo.  Short demonstrations of strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion follow, and flute soloist, Nicole Ozdowsky, 2012 2nd Place Instrumental Competition winner, will perform.  To close the concert, enjoy Jack and the Beanstalk, the well-known English fairytale about a young boy and a giant as set by Chester County composer Melissa Dunphy.  Jack and the Beanstalk features the Kennett Symphony Children’s Chorus, and narration by Lloyd Bankson Roach, the voice of Brandywine Radio.

Immediately following each performance the Symphony will offer its popular Instrument Petting Zoo, in which children meet and greet the musicians of the Kennett Symphony.  Special children’s activities, including meeting the composer, Jack and the Beanstalk puzzles, face painting, and more, make this a memorable experience for the whole family!
