Joseph Raymond Meaney of Chadds Ford

Joseph Raymond Meaney, 75, of Chadds Ford, died Oct. 27.

An only child, he was born in Dorchester, Mass. to the late Patrick J. Meaney and Anne Malone.He graduated from B.C. High School and from M.I.T. where he received a degree in chemical engineering. While in the Army, he taught water pollution remediation for the Army Corps of Engineers. Joseph was also a member of the American Legion.

He married Kathleen T. Roche in 1969. During his career, he consulted with many companies including DuPont, Hercules, G.E., and Corning. He worked on the Apollo project and helped design the space suits for the astronauts. In his free time, Joseph enjoyed horticulture, historical and genealogical research, and watching the Boston Celtics.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathleen Meaney and his children, Melinda and Colin.

A private service will be held at a future time for his interment on Cape Cod, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Joseph may be made to your favorite charity.
