Janet McGrath Mancill of Kennett Square

Janet McGrath Mancill, 80, of Kennett Square, died Friday, Oct. 12, at the Chester County Hospital. She was the wife of Robert F. Mancill, II, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.

Born in Boise, Idaho, she was the daughter of the late James and Mabel Stevens McGrath.

She was a graduate of Evanston High School in Evanston, Ill., and a member of the Class of 1954 at Beloit College in Wisconsin. She studied at the Chicago Art Institute, attended the Art Student League in New York City and she studied under Tom Bostelle in the 1960s.

She was a member of the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the Evergreen Garden Club in West Grove, PA, and the Hockessin Monthly Meeting in Hockessin.

Janet was an artist, worked in New York City and Wilmington as a graphic artist in the 1950s then taught art in her home studio from the 1960s. She was a devoted wife and mother and took an active role with her three sons’ extracurricular activities, mainly sports.

She is survived by her husband Robert F. Mancill II, Pocopson Home; three sons, James B. Mancill and his wife Lynn of Hilton Head Island, S.C.,  Thomas M. Mancill and his wife Barbara of West Chester, Robert F. Mancill, III of Pike Creek, Del.;  grandchildren Ashley, Alexandria, Clayton, Travis, and Harrison, and Chase, and former daughter-in-law Laura Lynch and her daughter Rachel.

Janet was predeceased by one brother, Donald McGrath.

You are invited to visit with her family and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, (Phone: 610-444-4116). Her memorial service will follow. Burial will be private.
