Jerry Wayne Gelsinger of Kennett Square

Jerry Wayne Gelsinger, 75, of Kennett Square, died Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Jennersville Regional Hospital.

Born in Providence, Ky., he was the son of the late George and Helen Utley Gelsinger, and his step-father, the late Patrick Cunnius.

Jerry was a Foreman at the Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville, for 39 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of the Kennett Area Jaycees, and a lieutenant colonel in the Delaware Civil Air Patrol. He was a coach for the St. Patrick’s CYO Basketball team. He and Frank Eich started flag football in the Kennett area.

He was an avid Phillies, Eagles and 76ers fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Gregory Gelsinger and his wife Meridith of Honey Brook; two granddaughters and three great grandchildren.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street in Kennett Square. His funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
