Joan R. Schaupp of Kennett Square

Joan R. Schaupp, 80, of Kennett Square, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at her residence.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Leonard F. and Anna Terry Carr.

She was a licensed practical nurse retiring in 1995. She had worked for various nursing homes and hospitals.

Mrs. Schaupp was an avid reader and she enjoyed all types of canvas paintings, and an animal lover.

She is survived by one son, Carl L. Schaupp and his wife Carolyn of Chalfont; two daughters, Laurie Schaupp-Ross and her husband John of Kennett Square, and Deborah Avicolli and her husband Joseph of Garnet Valley; one brother, Leonard Carr of Delaware; one sister, Barbara Chernitsky of Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Melissa Brennan, Kristie Bean, Matthew Madden, Amanda Schaupp and Maya Ross; three great-grandchildren, and her ex-husband/companion, Carl Schaupp of Kennett Square.

Joan was predeceased by one son, Russell Schaupp and one sister, Marie Kromer.

Her Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church, 8910 Gap Newport Pike, (Route 41) in Avondale.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution in Joan’s memory may be made to the Chester County SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.
