Brandywine Ballet is proud to announce its 2011-2012 season,
featuring a live choral and orchestral collaboration; two, premiere one-act
ballets; a premiere, full-length ballet; and the 32nd annual performances of The
Nutcracker. Brandywine Ballet continues its residency this season at Emilie K.
Asplundh Concert Hall in West Chester, PA. Pre-sale subscriptions are currently
on sale now through September 5. Individual tickets ($25-$40) go on sale
September 6. Subscriptions, tickets, and a complete schedule are available by
telephone at 610-696-2711 and on-line at www.brandywineballet.com.

Brandywine Ballet’s season opens Oct. 21-23 with two,
one-act ballets “The Phantom” and Mozart’s “Requiem.” Choreographer Christopher
Fleming brings to life French
writer Gaston Leroux’s classic novel “Phantom of the Opera” in a lusciously
expressed, one-act balletic interpretation, simply called The Phantom. Debuted
as a work in progress this past spring, Nancy Page’s complete work Mozart’s
Requiem is a one-act tour de force. Featuring the spectacular Brandywine
Singers and a live orchestral ensemble performing Mozart’s beloved Requiem
Mass, Mozart’s Requiem reaches soul searching, ethereal heights in its
depiction of loss, the grieving process, and healing.

Brandywine Ballet’s traditional presentation of “The
Nutcracker” runs Dec. 9-18, and is one of several arts and cultural reasons to
make Chester County part of your Holiday celebration. In its 32nd year of
production, Brandywine Ballet’s eight-performance run of “The Nutcracker”
continues to play to sold-out audiences each December, attracting and retaining
new fans from across the Greater Philadelphia region. In 2011, the company has
added two additional performances to satisfy growing public demand for tickets!
Families are invited to participate in a pre-performance Nutcracker Tea, Dec.
10, 11 and 17.

Traditionally reserved for mixed repertoire, Brandywine
Ballet’s spring-series has included Balanchine ballets, world premieres, and
company debuts. In the spring of 2012, the company is pleased to present a
premiere full-length ballet, Nancy Page’s “Beauty & the Beast,” April
27-29. Page has masterfully adapted the traditional fairy tale for ballet,
unearthing the work’s pitch perfect crossover elements such as whimsical
romance, enchanted rings and mirrors, dazzling palaces and forests, and
classic, familial dysfunction and reconciliation. Families and the romantic at
heart are sure to be won over with Beauty & the Beast’s timeless love story.
