Richard L. Thompson Sr. of Quarryville

Richard L. Thompson Sr., 70, of Quarryville, died Thursday,
May 26, at his residence. He was the husband of Delores Hollywood Thompson,
with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.

Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Bartie Lee
and Zola Powers Thompson.

He was a driver/salesman for Herr Foods in Nottingham,
retiring in 2001, after 39 years of service.

Richard was a member of the Travel Heirs and Thompson Family
Gospel Singers for 25 years. As a member of the gospel groups he had travelled
the entire East Coast and made three recordings. He enjoyed singing, fishing,
mowing grass, washing his car, and spending time with his family and
friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Richard
L. Thompson Jr. and his wife Kristie of Chesapeake City Md.; three daughters,
Penny A. Thompson and her husband Dave of Harlem, Ga., Joy A. May and her
husband Mike of Kirkwood, and Kristy Thompson of Quarryville, and nine
grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three children, Ginger, Sherry, and
Greg Thompson and one brother Johnny Thompson.

friends from 6– 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home,
250 West State Street, Kennett Square, (phone 610-444-4116) and again on
Wednesday morning June 1, 2011, from 10–11 at the State Line Baptist
Church, 560 Chrome Road, Rising Sun, Md. His funeral service will follow at 11
a.m. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square.
