Margaret “Peggy” Weer Simpson of Kennett Square

Margaret “Peggy” Weer Simpson,
71, of Kennett Square, formerly of Unionville, died at her home on Thursday,
Feb. 17.

Born in Unionville on Aug. 25,
she was the daughter of the late W. Albert and Louise F. Weer. She graduated
from Unionville High School in 1957 and has enjoyed the many gatherings and luncheons
with classmates since. For many years she could be found every Wednesday
evening playing bingo at the Kennett Fire Company. Peggy enjoyed dining out
with, as well as many card games with friends, and an occasional trip to
Delaware Park.

She enjoyed the beach and would
go to Ocean City, N.J. for vacations, and recently Stone Harbor, N.J. and
Bethany Beach, Del. where she enjoyed many good times with family and friends.
Peggy was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed watching the games on TV, or listening
to the games on the radio. She loved talking about the games and players with
other fans.

She was a life member of the
Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company, Unionville, where she had served as president of the
Ladies Auxiliary. She was involved with the Kennett Branch of the Needlework
Guild of America. In 2006, Peggy was honored as a 50-year member of the
Unionville Presbyterian Church.

Peggy was a postal clerk at the
Kennett Square Post Office before retiring after 25 years. After retirement,
she worked several years as a switchboard operator at Longwood Gardens and was
currently working as an accounts payable clerk at DDM Energy, West Chester,
where she greeted every customer with a smile and friendly conversation.

She will always be remembered
as a very caring and giving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt,
and friend.

She is survived by a daughter,
Diane Bottomley and husband David of Kennett Square; two sons, Bradley Dean
Simpson and Eileen Hamilton of Honeybrook, Jeffrey Dayton Simpson and wife Dana
of New London; a brother, Robert F. Weer and wife Barbara of Unionville; two
grandsons, Bradley Dean Simpson Jr. of Rising Sun, Md. and Tyler Roy Simpson of
New London; a great-granddaughter, Jasmine Marie Simpson of Rising Sun, MD; and
many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one
brother, William A. Weer, Jr. and two sisters, Janice Weer and Wenona
Weer Harris.

A service will be held at 11 a.m.,
Thursday, Feb. 24 at Unionville Presbyterian Church, Wollaston Rd, Unionville,
where family and friends may call from 9 am to 11 am. Burial will be in
Unionville Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Kuzo &
Grieco Funeral Home of Kennett Square.

In lieu of flowers, the family
suggests contributions to Unionville Presbyterian Church, 812 Wollaston Rd,
Kennett Square, PA 19348 or American Cancer Society, Attn: Relay for Life
Oxford – Friends for Life Team, 480 Norristown Rd, Blue Bell, PA 19422.
Peggy had been a member of the Friends for Life team for the past 10 years, and
her grandson Tyler is currently a member.
