Joseph Charles Rzucidlo of Landenberg

Joseph Charles Rzucidlo, 91, of
Landenberg, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark.
Born Dec. 7, 1919 in Chester, Joe was a son of Karol Rzucidlo and Elsbieta
Feret Kmiec Rzucidlo.

Joe spent his early
childhood years in Chester and with his blossoming sense of adventure could be
found at age 9 riding the boxcars of the railroad line that ran close to his
home on 3rd Street. At age 11, he moved from Chester to Landenberg when
his father bought a dairy farm. There, Joe worked the farm and married
Anastasia Patricia Makowski. Upon returning from WWII, having served in the
Navy and been stationed at the Panama Canal Zone, Joe started his family and
became employed at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Delaware from which he
later retired after 30 years.

Joe enjoyed touring
the local countryside in his pickup truck and feeding the wild geese at Lantana
Square, DE and at the White Clay Preserve, Landenberg, PA. He enjoyed doing
circle a word puzzles and watching cable TV programs, especially The Price is
Right.

He is survived by
daughters Patricia Rzucidlo, West Chester, Bernardine Rzucidlo Silvan,
Philadelphia, Toni (Antoinette) Rzucidlo, Landenberg, Rose
Rzucidlo-Lake-Malchione-Koubek, Wilmington, Julie Rzucidlo Wood, Bear, Del.,
and son, Josephy Rzucidlo, Landenberg, and 16 grandchildren: Jeremiah, Stephen,
and April Rzucidlo, Bernardine, Donald, Jennifer, and David Silvan, Michael
Lake, Sara Malchione, and Elizabeth Koubek, Veronica Bird, Amanda, Joseph,
Jacob, Justin, and Abigail Rzucidlo, great grandson, Kevin Rzucidlo, and
brothers John Rzucidlo of Cochranville, PA and Michael Rzucidlo of Newark.

Joe was predeceased
in death by his wife of 60 years, Anastasia Patricia Rzucidlo (nee Makowski),
sisters, Sophie Hamilton, Sadie Mylet, Helen Zdun, Josephine Zona, Carol Lipka,
Laura Worley, Mary White and Genevieve Hayes,and brothers, Stanislaus Rzucidlo,
Stanley Kmiers, and Francis Rzucidlo.

Mass of Christian
burial will be on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, 10a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 212
Meredith St., Kennett Square, with a viewing Tuesday evening, February 22, 2011
from 6-8 PM at Cleveland Grieco Funeral Home, 223 Pennsylvania Ave., Avondale,
PA. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Kennett Square.
