Francis (Frank) Leo Torelli, 95,
of Downingtown, formerly of Southwest Philadelphia and Newtown Square died Saturday,
Jan. 30, at Harrison Senior Living, Christiana.
Francis (Frank) Leo Torelli, 95,
of Downingtown, formerly of Southwest Philadelphia and Newtown Square died Saturday,
Jan. 30, at Harrison Senior Living, Christiana. He was the husband of the late
Constance Morello Torelli with whom he shared 68 years of marriage until her
death on July 21, 2003.
Born in Collingdale, he
was the son of the late Peter Francis Torelli and Anna Marie Lingo Torelli. Frank
served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a tech sergeant. Frank: was a master meat
cutter he was employed by the American Stores, now operating as the Acme Markets.
He was a member of Assumption
BVM Church in West Grove, and the Catholic War Veterans, Father Hickey Post in
Havertown where he served as historian. Frank was formerly an active member of
the Republican party and served as committee man in the 40th ward of
Philadelphia.
He enjoyed traveling with his
wife, Connie. An ardent baseball fan, he would reminisce of games he attended
at Shibe Park and of seeing Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Lefty Grove and other
baseball greats. He took great interest in biography and history.
Survivors include: Two sons
Peter F. Torelli and his wife Mary Anne of Bear, Del. and Francis J. Torelli
and his wife, Finley of Downingtown, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by daughter Rita Torelli
Billingham.
A mass of Christian Burial will
be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, at the Assumption of the Blessed
Virgin Mary Church, 300 State Road in West Grove. Family and friends may call
from 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the mass. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and
Paul Cemetery in Springfield.
Memorial contributions in his
memory may be made to Assumption BVM Building Fund, 107 West Evergreen Street,
West Grove, PA 19390.
