Wallace G. “Wally” Taylor of Kennett Square

Wallace G. “Wally” Taylor, 88, of Kennett
Square, died Monday, Dec. 13, at Crosslands. Born in Kennett Square, he was the
son of the late Roland W. and Helen B. Taylor.

He graduated from Kennett Consolidated
School, Mercersburg Academy, Dartmouth College, Stonier Graduate School of
Banking (trust) Rutgers University and Midshipman’s School at Northwestern
University.

He served in the Navy, Pacific theater, was
discharged as a Lt. J.G. as Communications Officer on the U.S.S. Renville A.P.A. 227.

He married Dorothy P. “Skip” Taylor in 1946.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Nancy Hawkins of
Belcamp, Md. and Barbara Shrewsbury and her husband, Brian of Hughsville, Md., 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one brother, J. Samuel Taylor.

Wally worked at the National Bank & Trust
Co. of Kennett Square and retired as vice president and senior trust officer.

He served on the boards of the Kennett Bank,
the American Red Cross, and the Society of the War of 1812-Pa. He was a past treasurer of the General
Society of the War of 1812. He served as deacon, trustee, and an elder while at
the Presbyterian Church of Kennett Square. Subsequently he was a member of Westminster Presbyterian
Church and was a member and past president of the Kennett Lions Club and past
president of the Kennett Area Beautification Committee.

He enjoyed reading, golf, music, theater and
gardening.

Friends and family are invited to attend his
Memorial Service at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 17 at Westminster Presbyterian
Church, 10 West Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester.
