Alice Miller Steltzer, 78, died on
Saturday, April 24 at Jenner’s Pond Retirement Community after a battle with Alzheimer’s
disease. She was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of Louis and Alice Miller.

She was a graduate of Temple University’s
School of Journalism and for many years wrote feature stories for several of
our newspapers, including the Montgomery County Press, the Trentonian, the
Wilmington News-Journal and the Kennett News & Advertiser.

For almost twenty years she was the director
of communications at Wilmington’s Tatnall School where she also taught classes
in journalism. She retired from Tatnall in 1994 and then spent the next few
years organizing the Tatnall School’s archives.

Her avocation was painting. Mrs. Steltzer
studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and her paintings have
been exhibited in Wilmington, Chester County, and Philadelphia galleries.

She was a member of the Church of the
Advent in Kennett Square, a former member of the choir, publisher of the
church’s newsletter for many years, and organizer of Advent’s archives.

Like her husband, she was an avid
traveler and accompanied him on their many trips abroad that included living a
few years in Istanbul, Turkey, where their son was born.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbur
Steltzer Jr., with whom she shared 52 years of marriage, and her three
children: Lauren, of Bala-Cynwyd, Wilbur Steltzer III, of Landenberg, and
Alison Clough of Chantilly, Va. and by six grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating her life
will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 6 at the Alison Building of Jenners Pond
Retirement community 2000 Greenbriar Lane West Grove.  Interment will be held privately. Contributions in her
memory may be made to the Jenner’s Pond Benevolent Care Fund, 2000 Greenbriar
Lane, West Grove, Pa 19390. Arrangements are being handled by the Foulk &
Grieco Funeral Home Inc. (610-869-2685) of West Grove. To send an online
condolence, please visit www.griecocares.com.
