Edgar Howard
Jr., 87, died Dec. 23 at Crosslands Retirement Community in Kennett Square. Formerly
of East Norriton, he was born in Bradford, R.I. the son of the late Irene (nee
Wilks) and Edgar Howard.
He received
a B.S. in Chemistry from Brown University in 1943, a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry
form University of Illinois in 1946 and was a Post Doctoral fellow at Harvard
University from 1946-1947. He was a member of the American Chemical Society,
and many chemistry and mathematics honor societies including Sigma Xi and Alpha
Chi Sigma. He was a Professor of
Chemistry at Temple University for 39 years and was active in his community as
a member of the Norristown Area School Board and Retired Seniors Volunteer
Program.
Edgar was
the husband of the late Audrey W. Howard, the father of Nancy H. Agnew (Michael
L.), James C. Howard (Patricia A.), and Carl F. Howard, and grandfather of Michael L. Agnew,
Katrina N. Howard and the late Charles M. Agnew.
Relatives
and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, Dec. 30, from 9:30- 11:00 a.m.
at the Kirk & Nice Funeral Home, 80 Stenton Ave. Plymouth Meeting, PA.
Funeral services will be private.
