Exhibit extended

In response to the overwhelmingly positive public response to Jamie Wyeth--Seven Deadly Sins, the Brandywine River Museum will extend the exhibition through Nov. 29.

The exhibition includes seven paintings of sin and a group of eight related works and studies. The sinful series culminates in the painting, Inferno, Monhegan (2005), which depicts a youth stoking a fire burning the island's garbage. The image reminded Wyeth of Dante's Inferno. The exhibition connects this painting and the paintings of the gulls to underscore the relationship of sin to hell.  A short film by D'Arcy Marsh that documents Wyeth working on Inferno plays in the gallery.
