Rita D. Pannell, 70, of Kennett Square, died Monday, Aug. 10 surrounded by her loving family.

Rita D. Pannell, 70, of Kennett Square, died Monday, Aug. 10 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Jack P. Pannell, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage.

Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Mowery Donohoe.

She was a Bookkeeper at Donohoe’s Mushrooms for many years, clerk at the Former Meridian Bank, and a secretary for JB Swayne Spawn Co.

Rita was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Kennett Square.

She enjoyed doing ceramics, reading, baking, family vacations at the beach and walking with her friends at Longwood Gardens. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Kennett Area Food Cupboard, the Kennett Area Community Services, Meals on Wheels, Pocopson Home, and St. Vincent DePaul.

The family would like to thank the Pocopson Home and Neighborhood Hospice for their compassion during this difficult time.   

Rita is survived by one son, Jeffrey Pannell and his wife Linda of Kennett Square; three daughters, Donna Novak and her husband Craig of Chadds Ford, Robin Davis and her husband Jeff of Kennett Square, and Marsha Melton and her husband Rich of Kennett Square; three brothers, Phil Donohoe of West Grove, James Donohoe and Joseph Donohoe both of Delaware;  two sisters, Helen Brown and Patti Neely both of West Grove, and nine grandchildren, Amanda, Lauren, Kristen and Kyle Novak, Christopher Pannell, Morgan and Austin Davis, and Jack and Justin Melton.

She was predeceased by one brother, Gerald Donohoe.

You are invited to visit with Rita’s family and friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12, and 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, (Phone: 610-444-4116). Her Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday St. Patrick’s Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery, Kennett Square.  Contributions in her memory may be made to Neighborhood Hospice 400 East Marshall St. West Chester, PA 19380.
