Wayne E. Coyle of Kennett Square

Wayne E. Coyle, 97 of Kennett Square, died Aug. 4 at Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford.  He was the husband of Madeleine Hoehn Coyle, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Pathmore Coyle.

He was a 1930 graduate of Unionville High School

Mr. Coyle served in the Royal Air Force and in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot night fighter in the Pacific during World War II.

He worked at Longwood Gardens for 47 years, retiring in 1977 as an arborist foreman.

Mr. Coyle was a member of the Kennett Masonic Lodge #475 F&AM and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah Crocker and her husband B. William Crocker, Jr. of Rochester, Ny; a nephew, Richard W. Coyle of Glen Mills; and by two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Longwood Cemetery, 945 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Coyle’s memory to Ware Presbyterian Village, Employee Giving Fund, 7 E. Locust St., Oxford, PA 19363.
