Jay D. Cole of Avondale

Jay D. Cole, age 64 of Avondale, died July 21 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was the husband of Norma Johnson Cole, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.

Born in Wilmington, he was the son of Vera Reese Cole of Avondale, and the late Ray D. Cole.

He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Prior to his retirement, Jay worked at Porter Chevrolet, and previous to that he had a long career in sales.  Jay was a car enthusiast.

He was an elder at the Toughkenamon Presbyterian Church.

Jay enjoyed gardening, vacationing at the beach, restoring model trains, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa M. Weaver and her husband Christopher of Avondale, and Cheryl E. Nelson and her husband Frederick of West Grove, and by four grandchildren, Alec and Grace Weaver and Benjamin and Logan Nelson.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, at the Toughkenamon Presbyterian Church on Church Street in Toughkenamon.  Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jay’s memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 555 North Lane, Suite 5010, Conshohocken, PA 19428 or to Toughkenamon Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 369, Toughkenamon, PA 19374.
